Kenya Airways (KQ) have released a cargo operations schedule. KQ have been operating a number of cargo flights around the world in the wake of the covid19 pandemic.
The new weekly schedule includes destinations such as Lusaka, Sharjah, Accra and Guangzhou. Cargo operations have been on the increase globally due to the travel restrictions imposed due to the covid19 pandemic. In particular demand has been high for covid19 related medical cargo such as masks, gloves, PPE’s and respirators.
KQ will deploy a mixture of cargo specific aircraft and passenger aircraft. On high volume and long-range routes, the airline will deploy the Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner while the Boeing 737 Freighter will be complimented by a Boeing 737-800 on regional routes. The use of passenger jets for cargo operations has been on the increase worldwide as airlines try to match up demand for cargo services.
Kenya is one of Africa’s biggest flower producers and the demand for fresh flowers has been on the increase following the relaxation of the lockdown in Europe. Guangzhou, Paris, London, Amsterdam and Lagos-Accra will all be served by a B787 Dreamliner.
