Fastjet Pushes New Routes To 2021

Fastjet Zimbabwe (FN) has rescheduled the launch of two new routes to 2021. Initially, the value-based airline had announced plans to introduce the Bulawayo – Victoria Falls and Victoria Falls – Kruger Mpumalanga flights in July 2020.

In a statement released by the airline, “this is due to a decline in demand and the likelihood of the COVID-19 pandemic resurging and persisting well into 2021.” Both routes are crucial to the development of Victoria Falls as a regional tourism hub.

Federal Airlines whom will be partnered by fastjet on the route posted a statement on their website Federal Airlines wishes to inform their valued guests that the planned new route between Victoria Falls and Kruger-Mpumalanga (KMIA), which was to be operated by Fastjet, will now be deferred to 2021”.

Fastjet were in 2019 awarded domestic traffic rights between Harare and Bulawayo. The airline operates twice daily between the two Zimbabwean cities. Bulawayo- Victoria Falls will be the third connection by the airline to and from Bulawayo, following Bulawayo –Harare and Bulawayo-Johannesburg (JNB).

The Victoria Falls –Kruger Mpumalanga flights will be the third connection by the airline between Zimbabwe and South Africa. A fastjet representative said “the new route will offer tourist an unrivalled experience to explore Southern Africa in the most efficient way”.
