Ibom Air (QI) is set to commence service route to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea the airline’s international route. This is according to local media reports after an address by Ibom State Deputy Governor Moses Ekpo. Ibom Airlines is owned by the State of Ibom.
The route is expected to be launched after the travel restrictions have been eased by both countries. Currently Ibom Airlines flies to various Nigerian cities including Abuja, Lagos and Uyo.
In the second quarter of 2020, Ibom took delivery of its 4th aircraft, a CRJ900 with a registration 5N-BXP and on 7 June the airline celebrated a year’ anniversary. Ibom is currently grounded after the imposition of travel restrictions by the Nigerian Federal Government.
Meanwhile the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is preparing to reopen the some of the airports. FAAN has released some new health guidelines including mandatory use of a mask; social distancing while non-traveling people will not be allowed into the terminal building.
