EgyptAir (MS) has taken delivery of its 8th Airbus A320neo registered SU-GFQ. The aircraft is in a batch of 15 aircraft acquired by the North African carrier.
Announcing the delivery via its LinkedIn page, EgyptAir said: “EgyptAir receives 8th and final Airbus A320 neo aircraft in 2020. Seven Airbus A321neo aircraft will be delivered in 2022.
The 8th A320neo, which carries the SU-GFQ registration letters from the Airbus plant in Toulouse, France, is the latest in a deal contracted by EgyptAir out of fifteen A320neo family aircraft contracted to include 8 Airbus A320neo aircraft and 7 Airbus A321neo aircraft in cooperation with Erkab.”
Earlier in the year Airbus confirmed the handover of the first of the A320neos, powered by CFM international Leap-1A engines. The twin class configured A320neos will carry 142 economy and 16 business class passengers.
As part of the deal EgyptAir will take delivery of seven A321neos in 2022 as part of its modernization plan.
EgyptAir resumed flights on 1 July 2020 and has been adding to its network as more countries begin to open their borders.
