Effective 7 September 2020 Mozambique has lifted the State of Emergency entering a new phase called “situation of public calamity.”
During a State of the Nation last Friday President Filipe Nyusi announced that Mozambique will be lifting the state of emergency from midnight Sunday 6 September.
Nyusi said the state of emergency would end Sunday night as infections have not increased much compared to neighbouring countries in the region. “We are proud of the measures we have taken that have allowed the spread of the disease to be contained.”
Beaches, borders and international flights will be permitted from 07 September while religious gathering have been re-opened with a cap of 250 worshippers.
LAM Mozambique has recently re-launched weekly flights between Maputo and Lisbon using an Airbus A330. Regionally the airline has been operating flights to Dar es Salaam and with the opening of the borders more routes are expected to be re-open.
