KENYA AND TANZANIA RESOLVE AIR BORDER IMPASSE

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has released a revised list of countries permitted to enter Kenya without mandatory quarantine.

The new 147 state list includes neighbour Tanzania for the first time since the resumption of flights in August. Tanzania and Kenya have been on each other’s throats over the exclusion of Tanzanians on the list.

Tanzania responded by suspending Kenyan airlines from the Tanzanian airspace claiming the principle of reciprocity. The move led to Kenyan airlines suspending service to Tanzanian destinations including Zanzibar.

In response to the new Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Director General Hamza Johari said in statement, TCAA said: “In view of that and on a reciprocal basis, the United Republic of Tanzania has now lifted the suspension for all Kenyan Operators namely, Kenya Airways, Fly 540 Limited, Safarilink Aviation and Air Kenya Express Limited.”

Johari added: “The resumption and restoration of flights for all Kenyan operations is with immediate effect and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has been informed accordingly.”
