Value based airline fastjet Zimbabwe will resume flights between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg from early December 2020.
The airline released a statement announcing the route. “Fastjet is pleased to announce the reintroduction of flights between Victoria Falls International Airport and Johannesburg, OR Tambo International Airport from Thursday, 03 December 2020.”
Fastjet Zimbabwe, Accountable Manager Ed Berry added, “We are pleased to be starting this route and to be working closely with Zimbabwe Tourism authorities, travel service providers and the local communities in contributing to build a post COVID-19 strong and resilient tourism sector for Victoria Falls.”
The flight will be operated by the airlines Embraer ERJ145 regional jet on a thrice weekly basis on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. According to the statement the flight will depart Johannesburg at 11:10am arriving in Victoria Falls at 12:20pm. The return flight departs Victoria Falls at 13:20pm arriving back in Johannesburg at 14:55.
Since the ease of travel restrictions in Zimbabwe and South Africa, Fastjet has gradually resumed flights across its network. To date, the airline now services all three major domestic markets in Zimbabwe.
Last week Fastjet resumed flights between Bulawayo and Johannesburg. This became the airline’s second regional route after the Harare-Johannesburg flights.
